In 2016 Yorke Farming Ltd. took over as our farming contractor, following the retirement of James Dockray who had managed the farming since 2005. Cropping continues to be based around conservation and biological farming practices. In short, healthy soils produce healthy and profitable crops. The cropping system is mainly nil-till, currently based around wheat, barley, bean and oil-seed rape production, using fallow and soil fertility building break crops. Grassland Over more than a decade, a programme of fence replacement and sward regeneration within the Entry Level Scheme has seen former dairy pastures transformed into a productive and ultimately sustainable grassland system let to a local grazier. |
