TV, Film and Photographic Location
TV, Film and Photographic Location:
Chilton Lodge, the gardens, park and surrounding estate are available as a location for television and feature films, fashion and other photographic shoots.
Areas available for filming:
Chilton Lodge & Surrounding Parkland
Designed in the Palladian style in 1800, Chilton Lodge is Grade II* listed. Both the interior and exterior can be used for filming and photographic shoots.
The art collection is of international quality. Furniture and paintings can either be used for filming or removed by prior arrangement.
The surrounding parkland has no footpaths, roads, signs, overhead wires or cables, making it well suited as a location for period dramas.
Walled Gardens
The extensive Walled Garden was the subject of a 13-part BBC series called ‘The Victorian Kitchen Garden’, in which Head Gardener, Harry Dodson, recreated a working kitchen garden of the Victoria ear in the Chilton Walled Gardens.
The East Walled Garden continues to supply fresh fruit, vegetables and flowers to Chilton Lodge and a number of local florists, and would provide a beautiful backdrop for photoshoots and filming.
The Wider Estate & Farm
The wider Estate lends itself to productions such as 4x4 vehicle video promotions, period drama game shooting scenes and shots of vernacular farmhouses and cottages. We have various location sites including formal gardens, parkland, apple orchards, farmland, the banks of the River Kennett, and typical rural, woodland settings.
Leverton Cottages
Near the Estate’s stretch of the River Kennet, are a row of eight Grade II listed thatched cottages.
There are various other picturesque cottages, farmhouses and farm buildings on the estate that would be suitable for filming.
Drone Filming and photography
For health and safety reasons, no drone flying is permitted over Chilton Lodge, the grounds or surrounding parkland without prior consent. Any unauthorised drones may be removed and destroyed at the discretion of the Chilton Estate.
